When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

About this course

Overview and Outcomes.

Overview

When organisations work together, accountability must stay clear, because families, regulators and auditors will ask who was responsible if a partnership fails. The first part maps who answers for what in England and Wales, explains why a joint board does not merge its members' duties, uses contribution rather than attribution for shared outcomes, and covers the ICO Data Sharing Code. The second builds an assurance map in six steps, sets out the four elements of a board assurance framework, contrasts duplicated with missing assurance, and uses the fictional Tir Glas Housing to map building safety, with a matrix for matching assurance to risk.

What you'll develop

In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:

  1. Explain who answers for planning, money, social care, pooled funds, regulation, audit and voice in England and Wales, and why a joint board does not merge its members' duties.
  2. Plan and build an assurance map in six steps, rating each source of assurance by its strength, recency and independence.
  3. Distinguish when attribution is fair from when a contribution story is needed, and judge where a partnership sits on shared information and shared decisions.
  4. Describe the four elements of a board assurance framework and distinguish a compliance exercise from an early warning system.
  5. Apply the expectations of the ICO Data Sharing Code and the test of sharing as if the person were in the room, and use five assurance questions as a board member.
  6. Use the matching assurance to risk matrix to identify blind spots and over assured areas, and redirect assurance effort accordingly.
What it covers

The Modules.

1 hour 15 minutes of learning.

  1. 07Data, Governance and Accountability in PartnershipsWhen a partnership fails, families, regulators and auditors will ask who was responsible, and leaders need a clear, honest answer. This module maps who answers for what in England and Wales, sets out why a joint board does not merge its members' duties, and uses contribution rather than attribution to describe shared outcomes. It covers the ICO Data Sharing Code, joined-up data and five assurance questions for board members.39 min
  2. 06Assurance Mapping and Board Assurance FrameworksIf you cannot draw your assurance, you do not have it. This module builds an assurance map in six steps, reads an illustrative housing association map, and sets out the four elements of a board assurance framework. It contrasts duplicated with missing assurance and compliance exercises with early warning systems, uses the fictional Tir Glas Housing to map building safety, and offers a matrix for matching assurance to risk.36 min
