When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

About this course

Overview and Outcomes.

Overview

People are protected when agencies share what they know and act together, yet failures open at the boundary where everyone assumes someone else is responsible. Working across the landscape comes first: Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements, integrated health and social care, joint emergency response, Avanti's four conditions for leading partnerships, the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and JESIP. Information sharing and learning from reviews follow, clearing away myths with the Department for Education's 2024 advice, explaining the Single Unified Safeguarding Review in Wales and reflecting with care on the Child Practice Review following the death of Logan Mwangi.

What you'll develop

In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:

  1. Describe how MAPPA, integrated health and social care and joint emergency response bring separate bodies together around shared work.
  2. Explain why no single agency holds the whole picture, and correct common myths about data protection, consent and timing in safeguarding information sharing.
  3. Explain why accountability blurs when delivery crosses organisational boundaries, using the four ways delivery slips and the limits of coordinating frameworks.
  4. Compare partnership and review arrangements in Wales and England, including the Single Unified Safeguarding Review and multi-agency child protection teams.
  5. Apply practical questions about duties, handovers and a shared picture, alongside the four conditions for partnership, when your work crosses a boundary.
  6. Plan how your organisation will read, test, change, check and share the learning from safeguarding reviews so that practice changes.
