When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

Overview and Outcomes.
Who It's For
Senior leaders in health boards, integrated care systems, social care, housing and homelessness services across Wales and England
Overview
Health, care and housing are run by different bodies under different rules, yet people live one life. The first part of the flagship Health, care and home begins with how public services are governed: the Senedd, the NHS in England, NHS Wales and policing. It then works through integration in full, from Walter Leutz's levels and Regional Partnership Boards to integrated care systems, pooled budgets, the workforce, care closer to home and accountability in partnerships. Relationships over structures and a capstone on Torbay and Gwent follow. The course ends with homelessness, mental health and multiple disadvantage, drawing on Corey Keyes's dual continua, Hard Edges and the Mental Health Act 2025.
Aims
Put simply, the aim is to develop leaders who can work confidently across health, care and housing, understand the different rules partners work to on each side of the border, see multiple disadvantage as a system problem rather than a personal failing, and design support around the whole person.
In summary, you will be able to:
- Compare who commissions, who provides and who is accountable in the NHS in England and in Wales, and how policing is governed.
- Assess a pooled fund's purpose, governance, risk sharing and exit plan, and judge whether a partnership board genuinely shapes decisions.
- Explain the reframing from complex people to complex systems, and plan a good discharge for someone at risk of homelessness.
What you'll develop
By the end of this Immerse, you will be able to:
- Identify whether a policy area is devolved, reserved or partly devolved under the reserved powers model, and why that decides who you engage.
- Describe how NHS Wales is governed, from the Welsh health minister and Director General to the seven Local Health Boards, national bodies and the Joint Commissioning Committee.
- Explain why Wales plans integration by region and how the Welsh model, in which health boards both plan and deliver care, shapes partnership and accountability.
- Explain why counting the whole before splitting the parts, and seeing whose budget benefits and how soon, changes partnership conversations about prevention.
- Explain who answers for planning, money, social care, pooled funds, regulation, audit and voice in England and Wales, and why a joint board does not merge its members' duties.
- Analyse Torbay, the Regional Integration Fund and Gwent through the themes of integration, identifying what each case shares and what it took, over years, to change things for people.
- Explain the reframing from complex people to complex systems, and how services built for one need create gaps for people facing several.
- Outline how mental health law has developed from the 1983 Act to the Mental Health Act 2025, and what the new Act sets out to change as its provisions commence.
