When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

Overview and Outcomes.
Overview
What happened to people shapes how they meet services, and engagement can echo the power and control that trauma often involves. This module applies the six SAMHSA principles and the Trauma-Informed Wales framework, with its five principles and four practice levels. It shows why trauma-informed practice is a way of working, why predictability is a kindness, what changes in venues, choice, power and language, and how to hold hard conversations safely. If lived experience is expertise, the way it is recognised has to reflect that. This module sets out four reasons payment matters, including how unpaid involvement chooses who takes part, and places payment among other forms of recognition. It uses the NIHR payment rates as a benchmark, covers benefits and tax with care, and shows how to build a recognition policy and cost involvement in from the start.
What you'll develop
In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:
- Explain why power, control, belief and trust make trauma relevant to engagement, and describe the SAMHSA and Trauma-Informed Wales principles.
- Identify which Trauma-Informed Wales practice level each role in your engagement work requires.
- Plan engagement that is predictable and offers real choice, including holding hard subjects safely rather than avoiding them.
- Explain the four reasons for paying people for lived experience work, including how unpaid involvement narrows who takes part.
- Use a recognised benchmark and a menu of recognition while protecting people's benefits and tax position through choice and independent advice.
