About this course

Overview and Outcomes.

Overview

This module looks at how agencies share information and learn together. It clears away common myths using the Department for Education's 2024 information sharing advice, compares partnership structures in Wales and England, and explains the Single Unified Safeguarding Review in Wales. It reflects with care on the Child Practice Review following the death of Logan Mwangi, recurring review themes, and five steps from review to change. This module explores domestic abuse and exploitation as forms of power and control. It covers the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 definition, coercive control, the VAWDASV (Wales) Act 2015 and Ask and Act, forms of exploitation including new offences in the Crime and Policing Act 2026, and supply chain duties under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It examines the Rotherham inquiries and domestic abuse within your own workforce.

What you'll develop

In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:

  1. Explain why no single agency holds the whole picture, and correct common myths about data protection, consent and timing in safeguarding information sharing.
  2. Compare partnership and review arrangements in Wales and England, including the Single Unified Safeguarding Review and multi-agency child protection teams.
  3. Plan how your organisation will read, test, change, check and share the learning from safeguarding reviews so that practice changes.
  4. Explain how domestic abuse and exploitation operate through power and control, using the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 definition and the forms of exploitation the module sets out.
  5. Outline the Welsh approach under the VAWDASV Act 2015, including Ask and Act, and what an organisation must have in place before staff ask the question.
