When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

About this course

Overview and Outcomes.

Overview

Everyone needs enough AI literacy to ask good questions, but while the tool is cheap, skill is not. This module sets out literacy at four levels, why literacy is now an expectation under the EU AI Act, the UK skills target, AI Cymru and LGA evidence, and the expertise pipeline problem, illustrated by the legal profession. Drawing on Bainbridge's ironies of automation, it offers ways to protect how people learn and a skills plan. Your staff are already using AI. This module uses Microsoft and LinkedIn's Work Trend Index and LGA survey evidence to explore shadow AI, compares banning with safe enablement, and sets out four responsibilities for leading a team through adoption and what makes an acceptable use policy people follow. Drawing on Amy Edmondson's psychological safety and William Bridges on transition, it attends to feelings as well as facts and offers a team adoption rhythm.

What you'll develop

In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:

  1. Describe what AI literacy means at four levels: everyone, managers, specialists, and leaders and boards.
  2. Explain the expertise pipeline problem and why routine tasks were also how people built professional judgement.
  3. Plan skills development that protects learning, such as keeping some first drafts human, rotating tasks and assessing judgement.
  4. Explain what shadow AI is and why bans tend to drive use underground rather than stop it.
  5. Plan an acceptable use policy and team rules covering approved tools, data, checking, disclosure and where to ask.
