About this course

Overview and Outcomes.

Who It's For

Leaders and those responsible for coaching across their organisation

Overview

Coaching that lasts looks beyond the single conversation to what keeps coaching and mentoring effective, ethical and embedded over time. It opens with Jonathan Passmore's integrative model, motivational interviewing and the APPEAR ethics model, then explores mentoring through Kram's functions and phases and Clutterbuck's developmental approach. The middle of the programme focuses on safe practice: psychometrics used with care, confidentiality, three-way contracting, supervision and UK GDPR. It finishes with the organisation: building internal capacity and a coaching culture, buddy and peer coaching, a measured look at AI coaching, and three real cases that test what holds when coaching is scaled up.

Aims

The aim is to help leaders and those responsible for coaching in their organisations sustain coaching and mentoring that people can trust, combining sound ethical judgement and supervision with the practical design choices that turn individual conversations into a durable coaching culture.

In summary, you will be able to:

  1. Apply Passmore's integrative and APPEAR models, alongside ethical codes and supervision, to resolve dilemmas and keep coaching and mentoring relationships safe.
  2. Design mentoring, internal and peer coaching offers with sound matching, ground rules, confidentiality safeguards and a clear approach to evaluation.
  3. Assess the evidence on psychometrics, AI coaching and coaching at scale, and draw honest lessons for decisions in your own organisation.

What you'll develop

Across this Explore, you will develop the ability to:

  1. Describe the six streams of Passmore's integrative model and work across the four levels of behaviour, thinking, the unconscious and the system.
  2. Distinguish Kram's career and psychosocial functions and describe the four phases of a mentoring relationship.
  3. Explain the limits of confidentiality and plan how to agree them in advance, including in three-way contracting with a sponsor.
  4. Assess where your organisation sits on Clutterbuck and Megginson's four stages of a coaching culture.
  5. Distinguish AI as the coach, AI alongside the coach and AI around coaching.
  6. Apply frameworks such as the Inner Game, the working alliance and reflective practice to explain the Gawande and Osteen case.
