Overview and Outcomes.
Who It's For
Leaders and coaching leads building organisational coaching practice
Overview
Coaching only makes a lasting difference when it is practised safely and supported by the organisation around it. Coaching in practice turns to the conditions that protect quality: using psychometrics with care, holding ethical boundaries through the Global Code of Ethics, the APPEAR model and supervision, and keeping records under UK GDPR. It then looks at building internal capacity and a coaching culture, drawing on Clutterbuck and Megginson and the All Wales Coaching Network, and at buddy, peer and action learning approaches after Revans. It weighs the emerging evidence on AI coaching calmly, and closes with three real cases, including Atul Gawande's experience of being coached.
Aims
This programme aims to help leaders and those who lead coaching move from individual coaching skill to sound organisational practice: making ethical, well-supervised choices, growing internal and peer coaching that people trust, and judging honestly what coaching, psychometrics and AI can and cannot offer their organisation.
In summary, you will be able to:
- Assess psychometric instruments, AI coaching tools and evaluation results against the evidence, treating every score and claim as a hypothesis to test.
- Apply ethical codes, confidentiality limits, three-way contracting and supervision to keep coaching relationships safe and refer people on when needed.
- Plan an internal, peer or AI-supported coaching offer for your organisation, with clear safeguards and a Kirkpatrick-based evaluation of its impact.
What you'll develop
Through this Focus course, you will build the ability to:
- Compare type and trait approaches and explain why the Big Five has the strongest research base.
- Explain the limits of confidentiality and plan how to agree them in advance, including in three-way contracting with a sponsor.
- Assess where your organisation sits on Clutterbuck and Megginson's four stages of a coaching culture.
- Distinguish buddying, peer coaching, co-coaching and line manager coaching.
- Distinguish AI as the coach, AI alongside the coach and AI around coaching.
- Apply frameworks such as the Inner Game, the working alliance and reflective practice to explain the Gawande and Osteen case.
