Overview and Outcomes.
Overview
This capstone module brings the six areas of management together and applies them to real situations. It explores Aaron Dignan's idea of the organisational operating system and the Morning Star case, settles the boss versus leader question, and works through three applied cases, the Toyota Production System, Zappos and holacracy, and a council reorganisation, naming the frameworks at work so you can choose and combine tools in your own job.
What you'll develop
In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:
- Describe the difference between an operating system built for predictability and one built for adaptability, and identify which inherited rules in your own organisation are worth challenging.
- Distinguish relying on positional authority from leading through trust and credibility, using the test of what happens when you leave the room.
- Analyse a real case by naming the management frameworks at work in it, and apply the same habit to a live situation in your own service.
