When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

About this course

Overview and Outcomes.

Overview

This module focuses on the conversations managers most often avoid and teams most need. It explains why the feedback sandwich backfires and replaces it with the Situation, Behaviour, Impact model, explores Kim Scott's Radical Candor, builds the coaching habit through Michael Bungay Stanier's questions, uses the Thomas-Kilmann conflict modes to choose a response deliberately, and draws on Acas guidance to prepare for a difficult conversation.

What you'll develop

In this Bitesize, you will develop the ability to:

  1. Give specific, caring and direct feedback using Situation, Behaviour, Impact and Radical Candor, and explain why the feedback sandwich undermines both criticism and praise.
  2. Use the Coaching Habit questions, especially 'And what else?', to find the real issue before offering any advice.
  3. Choose a conflict mode deliberately and prepare a difficult conversation using the Acas guidance.
