When you step up to a higher level, what you paid in the last 12 months for lower-level courses inside the bigger course comes off its price, in proportion to how much of each is inside it, whichever topic it's from. Courses at the same or a lower level don't give credit against each other. A Focus course or above always costs at least £15. Read the full terms

Who It's For
Public service leaders responsible for creativity and innovation
Overview
The innovation habit is a full day immersion in creativity and innovation for public service leaders. It moves from the individual to the system: separating creativity from innovation, building a toolkit of divergent and convergent techniques, and exploring Dilts's strategies of genius. It then examines design thinking, Rogers's diffusion, Christensen's disruption and Keeley's Ten Types, before turning to public and open innovation, Nesta's barriers and the culture leaders create through psychological safety and constraint. Measurement with the Cranfield Innovation Health Check and an entrepreneurial mindset complete the picture, and a capstone draws on the Preston Model, IKEA and Finland's Housing First strategy.
Aims
This programme aims to develop leaders who can make innovation a habit across their organisations, from generating and designing ideas with discipline to spreading, measuring and sustaining them, so that creativity becomes implemented change that genuinely serves the public and the communities they work with.
In summary, you will be able to:
- Distinguish creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, and explain how ideas are generated, designed and spread, and how they disrupt established ways of working.
- Apply creative, design thinking and lean testing methods to a real service challenge, choosing an enabling mechanism suited to your organisation's barriers.
- Lead a culture of innovation, measuring progress honestly with the Cranfield Health Check and a balanced portfolio of core, adjacent and transformational work.
What you'll develop
By the end of this Immerse, you will be able to:
- Distinguish creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, and diagnose whether a stalled idea in your organisation reflects a creativity gap or an innovation gap.
- Explain Dilts's argument that genius is a describable, repeatable strategy rather than an innate gift.
- Explain Rogers's S curve and five adopter categories, and identify the chasm Moore describes between early adopters and the early majority.
- Explain Chesbrough's distinction between closed and open innovation and describe how ideas and value can flow both ways across an organisation's boundary.
- Use the Cranfield Innovation Health Check's five dimensions as an honest self assessment to identify which dimension is holding your organisation back.
- Identify which programme frameworks, such as diffusion, the crazy quilt and jobs to be done, explain each of the Preston, IKEA and Finland cases.
